Edgar Wasser (Stage name; 20th century in Chicago) is a German rapper from Munich.[1]

Early life

Edgar Wasser was born in Chicago but moved to Munich with his parents at the age of three. He completed his abitur at a Waldorf school.[1] He has publicly performed as a rapper since 2007 [2] and has published a series of free extended plays and mixtapes on his homepage.

Musician

Blumentopf booked him as support for their tour. Wasser has mostly published his music for free and has collaborated with Cap Kendricks among others. In 2013 he formed the band Dopeboy with Cap Kendricks, X, Phil Harmony, Paul and DJ Mic-e.[3]

After releasing the third part of his Edgar Wasser Freetrack Collection, in 2013 he published the album Nocebo featuring Fatoni of Creme Fresh.[3] He appeared at the 2013 Splash-Festival.

On November 14th 2014, he released Tourette-Snydrom EP as an album. It was his commercial debut album and published by the label Regenbogenpinguin. It was marketed by Soulfood, reaching spot 45 in the German album-charts.[4]

Musical Style

Edgar Wasser utilizes musical elements of Old School Hip Hop and of New German Rap Wave. Unlike many of his colleagues, Edgar Wasser puts little emphasis on his image or street-credibility revealing little of his private life. His texts are influenced by Conscious Rap and stand out due to his humour, which employs cynicism, sarcasm and irony. His texts often allude to Hip-Hop-culture and its music scene, ranging from German student rap to Gangsta rap.[3]
