Experimental Bacteriology: in Its Applications to the Diagnosis, Epidemiology, and Immunology of Infectious Diseases is a textbook on bacteriology and infectious diseases, aimed at medical students and practitioners, that has been published in numerous editions in several languages. It was one of the most authoritative works in microbiology in the first half of the 20th century.[1] Its original authors are Wilhelm Kolle and Heinrich Hetsch, and it is frequently referred to as "Kolle-Hetsch." Hans Schlossberger (1887–1960) subsequently took over as editor. The first edition appeared in 1906 and the tenth and last, significantly revised edition appeared in 1952, published by Urban & Schwarzenberg.[2] A French translation appeared in 1910, published by Doin,[3] and an English edition was published in 1934 by Allen & Unwin.
