Fords Pony car, the Mustang was first introduced in April, 1964.
The Mustang began to get fat and lazy, bigger and heavier in 1971. Inside the instrument layout was all new and power windows available for the first time.
For 1972, Mustangs were almost identical to 1971,
1973 brought some mild restyling, square, chrome headlamp bezels appeared, as did chrome trim around the tail lights. A color keyed Urethane front bumper replaced the chrome units of the previous years. The front parking lights were now placed vertically in the front grille. Hardtops, Convertibles and Sportsroofs still available.
Models were the standard Mustang, then the Grande, with luxury interior and vinyl roof. The grille was standard with the 'Pony Corral' or optional with the grille from the Mach 1, with smaller emblem as this car has.
The Mach 1 Sportsroof came with a V8, bumpers and fender, hood edge strips were body colour, a smaller horse emblem mounted on three vertical coloured bars mounted in a honeycomb grille and a honeycomb rear panel insert. Large side decals were revised for 1973.
