— height of bar shows lethality (percent of time a suicide attempt results in death)
— width of bar shows percent of time each method is used in a suicide attempt
— by implication, the area of each bar represents the total number of lethal attempts for each method
  • The SVG code for the background and axes was automatically generated by the "Bar charts" spreadsheet linked at RCraig09/Excel to XML for SVG
  • SVG code for the bars was generated by a custom-designed spreadsheet that may be downloaded from Google Drive
  • Variable-width bar charts can be more easily generated using the "Variable-width bar charts" spreadsheet linked at User:RCraig09/Excel to XML for SVG.
  • Most text was added in a text editor
