Summary[edit]

Short animation showing of flight in Flight Simulator 1.0 for the Apple II.

Source: Took the image with an apple II emulator.

To reduce the size I used a straightforward resize algorithm for this image. This introduces some visible errors on angular lines, but considering the image it matters little.

I uploaded this image opposed to its full resolution brethren because Wikipedia's thumbnail algorithm bloats the image up to 220 kilobytes. (In contrast, this image is 19 KB). I believe the reason for this to be that Wikipedia interpolates the image to reduce artifacts from the reduction.

Other information

Resolution was reduced to fit in with the article's layout, and because Wikipedia's thumbnail algorithm produce an image over 200 KB in size (which adds significantly to the page's load time)

The Apple II emulator kegs32, running at stock Apple II speed, was used to create the images. UnFREEze v.2.1 was used to stitch together the images, with a frame delay of 27 cs. Finally GIFOptzr was used to reduce the file size.

The frame delay was selected to reflect the performance of a stock Apple II, but the correlation is not perfect as the Apple II use variable time to draw each scene depending on complexity.
