Description A part of the Gosforth Cross, showing some sort of double-monster and a humanoid figure with a spear and a horn. Finnur Jónsson interprets the monster as Fenrir and tentatively suggests Heimdallr for the other figure. The engraving is signed "Magnus P.".
Date This photograph/reproduction published in 1913. The cross itself is medieval (possibly 10th century).
