Summary
[edit]SMU graduate student Stanley Guenter cleans a panel of Maya glyphs from the archaeological site of La Corona. This particular panel helped point to La Corona as the long-sought "Site Q". The panel's left side depicts king K'inich Yook of Sak Niktem
Although this is still under copyright, inclusion here qualifies for Fair Use under US Copyright law because:
- It is used for a non-commercial and educational purpose.
- It is representative of the site, certainly representative enough for Southern Methodist University to use as a publicity photo.
- The panel is a critical find, allowing researchers to link La Corona with Site Q.
- It not possible to obtain a free photo of this artifact (the artifact is not on display, etc).
