Description
English: Mausoleum of Makhdoom Shah Daulat (d 1608), a disciple of Makhdoom Yahya Maneri, at Maner, on Son River, 29 km from Patna, 19th century. Makhdum Daulat died at Maner in 1608, and Ibrahim Khan, Governor of Bihar and one of the saint's disciples completed the erection of his mausoleum in 1616.
Plate 12 from the first set of Thomas Daniell's 'Oriental Scenery.' The Muslim saint Makdham Shah Daulat had died in 1608 and was interred at Maner, a village west of Patna, near the junction of the rivers Son and Ganges. His mausoleum, built in 1616 by Ibrahim Khan, one of his disciples, is a fine example of funerary architecture during the reign of the Mughal emperor Jahangir and has columns with projecting lotus brackets, and small domed pavilions or chhatris at the corners of the roof.
