Français : Tapoa II était surnommé « Pomare opu rahi, » Pomare au gros ventre. « Roi » de Bora Bora, il épousa en 1822 Aimata, future reine de Tahiti. En 1831, il s’appuya sur la Mamaia pour tenter d’étendre sa domination sur l’ensemble des îles Sous-le-Vent. Vaincu, il se réfugia à Bora Bora. Aimata devenue Pomare IV demanda leur séparation et épousa Ariifaite. Dessin de H. B. Martin.
