Summary

Description
Deutsch: Thrissops cf. formosus, Ichthyodectidae; Jura-Museum Eichstätt, Deutschland (48°53′38.36″N 11°10′14.45″E / 48.8939889°N 11.1706806°E / 48.8939889; 11.1706806).
English: Thrissops cf. formosus, Ichthyodectidae; Upper Jurassic, Tithonium, Ettling, Bavaria, Germany; Jura-Museum Eichstätt, Germany (48°53′38.36″N 11°10′14.45″E / 48.8939889°N 11.1706806°E / 48.8939889; 11.1706806). The scales show the original colour pattern, induced by melanin. In addition, one can see muscles and parts of the gastrointestinal tract. This is one of the best conserved fossil fishes worldwide. Photo taken when on loan in an exposition in the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe (49°0′26.63″N 8°24′0.32″E / 49.0073972°N 8.4000889°E / 49.0073972; 8.4000889)
