Holden Radcliffe is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is an enemy of Machine Teen.
The character made his live action debut on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. played by John Hannah.[1]

The character, created by Marc Sumerak and Mike Hawthorne, first appeared in Machine Teen #1 (July 2005).
Fictional character biography
Within the context of the stories, Radcliffe is a businessman and scientist interested in developing androids as soldiers. Radcliffe forced Dr. Aaron Isaacs on the run after his chief scientist destroyed the work.[2] After years of searching for Dr. Isaacs who had created the robot son Adam at this point, he kidnaps Isaacs along with Adam and his friends.[3] Radcliffe tortures Adam in an effort to brainwash and take control of the "boy", but this is a ruse and Radcliffe is later killed after Adam self destructs.[4]

Holden Radcliffe is portrayed by John Hannah in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. This iteration is more sympathetic than his comic book counterpart and takes a keen interest in Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons as he feels that they respect his work.
Holden makes his first appearances in season three. He first appears in the episode "The Singularity" when Fitz and Simmons come to him for help in battling Hive, but gets kidnapped and is forced to create Inhumans. For the rest of the season, Hive keeps him confined threatening his life if he does not comply. Eventually he is rescued by S.H.I.E.L.D. and is inspired to create Life Model Decoys starting with his A.I. AIDA.
Radcliffe has a prominent role in season four. In the episode "The Ghost", Radcliffe shows Fitz who is skeptical, as it goes against Radcliffe's court restraint, but is nevertheless confident that it would benefit mankind. In the episode "Uprising", Radcliffe helps Simmons in getting Melinda May out of psychosis by killing and reviving, effectively resetting May's brain. Radcliffe proceeds to help the team by having Aida read the Darkhold when Phil Coulson, Fitz and Robbie Reyes are trapped in another dimension.
In the episode "Broken Promises", Radcliffe is revealed to be after the Darkhold. He programs Aida to act as if going haywire, and has also created an LMD Melinda May who is unaware of her true nature until "The Patriot". In the episode "Wake Up", Radcliffe is confronted by LMD May and reveals that despite knowing her origin she cannot harm him. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team discover that Radcliffe is working with Anti-Inhuman senator Ellen Nadeer. They capture him, but Fitz discovers that they had only taken custody of his LMD clone/copy. In the episode "Hot Potato Soup", Radcliffe's LMD reveals that Radcliffe knew Fitz's father. Radcliffe then creates the Framework, a virtual reality which he had actually designed so that Agnes Kitsworth, his former lover and Aida's inspiration, could live out the rest of her own life in bliss due to having a brain tumor. In the episode "The Man Behind the Shield", Radcliffe is revealed to have kidnapped Coulson, Fitz, Mack and Mace and replaced them with LMDs in an effort to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D.. He is later killed by Aida when realizing that his belief is contradictory with his creation's programming, though AIDA downloads his consciousness into the Framework.
In the episode "Identity and Change", Radcliffe is living out the rest of his existence with Agnes in the Framework, but their peaceful existence is disrupted by the arrival of Daisy Johnson, Jemma and Grant Ward. Aida's Framework counterpart arrives with a sinister Fitz, killing Agnes and taking Radcliffe away to be tortured. With nothing left to lose, Radcliffe resorts to helping the team escape the Framework through a 'back door' that he created. He redeems himself in the episode "Farewell, Cruel World!" by forcing Fitz through the portal while everyone except Mack leave. In the episode "World's End", Radcliffe meets up with Yo-Yo Rodriguez who entered the Framework to retrieve Mack when the world begins to slowly disappear. After Yo-Yo rescues Mack, Radcliffe sits on a beach resigned to his final moments. He quotes the final stanza in T. S. Eliot's The Hollow Men, but before he can finish it, he is erased along with the Framework.[5]
