Iioka Station (飯岡駅, Iioka-eki) is a railway station in Asahi, Chiba, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
Lines
Iioka Station is served by the Sōbu Main Line, with Shiosai limited express services between Tokyo and Chōshi also stopping at this station.[1] It is located 109.2 rail km from the western terminus of the Sōbu Main Line at Tokyo Station.

History

Iioka Station was opened on 1 June 1897 as a station on the Sōbu Railway for both passenger and freight operations. On 1 September 1907, the Sōbu Railway was nationalised, becoming part of the Japanese Government Railway (JGR). After World War II, the JGR became the Japan National Railways (JNR). Scheduled freight operations were suspended from 1 April 1982. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japan National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987. The station building was rebuilt in September 1997 in celebration of the station's centennial.

The station was used as a location for the 1993 Japanese film Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or the Bottom?.[citation needed]
