Fair use for Sylvia Sleigh
[edit]Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- It is a significant painting in the artist's body of work.
- It is of low resolution (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality).
- The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of the article's work.

Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it enables a direct comparison to be made with Ingres's similarly named painting of which Sleigh's picture is a gender reversal.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it clearly demonstrates the orientalism of Ingres's view of the hammam.
- It is a significant painting for the proper understanding of how the subject of the article can be artistically depicted without the implication that it depicts a scene in a harem.
- It is of low resolution (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality).
- The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
