Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (retitled Jamie's American Food Revolution in the United Kingdom) is a television series which premiered on ABC on March 21, 2010. The show, which is produced by English chef Jamie Oliver and Ryan Seacrest, follows Oliver as he attempts to reform the school lunch programs, help American society fight obesity and change their eating habits in order to live healthier and longer lives.
The series had its UK premiere on Channel 4 on September 13, 2010. The Greek premiere was on Fox Life Greece on November 2010. The premiere in Italy was on Raisat Gambero Rosso Channel in January 2011. Despite its noble goals and popularity of the show it was cancelled in the summer of 2011 due to a lack of commercial support for the campaign. However, changes intended and started by Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution stayed alive and found many supporters in America and all over the world.[citation needed]

[edit] Premise
Oliver, a celebrity chef and health campaigner in the UK, uses a grassroots campaign in the US to curb obesity. In the first season, his efforts are focused in Huntington, West Virginia, statistically one of the unhealthiest cities in the country.[1] In an early trailer for the show, Oliver challenges a group of first grade schoolchildren to identify fruits and vegetables, and they are unable to do so.[2] The show appears to roll together the concepts from at least two of his previous TV series' campaigns in the UK: Jamie's Ministry of Food and Jamie's School Dinners. [3]
In the second season, Oliver takes his food revolution to Los Angeles, California. However, the Los Angeles Unified School District has not allowed him to film in their schools.
[edit] Reception
In 2010, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution was nominated for the Do Something TV Show Award from the VH1 Do Something Awards for its efforts to promote healthy eating at public schools. The show also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program.
The show was renewed for a second six episode season on September 2, 2010.[4] The season premiered on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 8:00 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Central.[5] After two episodes the show was dropped because of poor ratings and replaced by repeats of Dancing with the Stars.[6] ABC aired the remaining four episodes in June;[6] because of this, episodes 3-6 aired in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 before the United States.
After significantly lower ratings in the second season, it was announced that the show will not return for a third season.[citation needed]
