On 5 September 1975 a bomb exploded at the lobby of Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London, killing two people and injuring 63.[1]
Prior warning
Ten minutes before the explosion of the bomb in the lobby, the Daily mail newspaper received a telephone call alerting them of the event. Having notified Scotland Yard which immediately sent three officers to investigate, but they were not able to evacuate the building before the bomb exploded at 1218 BST.[2]
PIRA claim responsibility
The Provisional Irish Republican Army claimed responsibility for the bombing.[3]
Second bombing
A second attempt to bomb the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane was carried out on 7 September 1992. The attempt left nobody injured.[4]
