Los Morochucos (from Quechua Muru Chuku) is one of six districts of the Cangallo Province in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Usnu at approximately 4,200 m (13,800 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

  • Chuntalla
  • Marayniyuq
  • Parya Wanka
  • Tuqtucha Urqu
  • Uchku Mach'ay Urqu

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (93.40%) learnt to speak in childhood, 6.34% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
