Narnack Records is an independent record label founded in 2002. The label developed in NYC & Brooklyn’s underground music scene, quickly becoming known for its ability for developing new artists, but also working with established bands like The Fall and The Slits. Narnack has become home for a diversified group of musicians working with a wide variety of artists, from garage rock, alternative & punk to Americana & folk and Dub/Reggae music.
In Spring of 2007 the company re-located from NYC to Los Angeles where it teamed up with Lionsgate Films for Distribution. In its new residence, Narnack began a publishing division, Narnack Music Publishing, with a catalog of over 300 songs from past and present artists as well as composers.
After a short stint with Lionsgate, Narnack found its new, current home with TVT/The Orchard, for both Physical and digital Distribution. Along with our new relationship with Orchard, their Creative Music Licensing Division will be handling all of our music licenses worldwide.
In 2008, Dub and Reggae legend, Lee “Scratch” Perry brought Narnack a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae album in his work with Andrew W.K. on ‘Repentance.’ Special guest appearances from Moby, Don Fleming, Sasha Grey, and Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt).
Other Narnack releases include: Iran, The Coachwhips, Restavrant, The Fall, Guitar Wolf, Thee Ohsees, Hella, Langhorne Slim and Friends of Dean Martinez with an upcoming release from The Slits on Oct 20th, 2009, their first in 25 years.
