Oleksandr Kornienko (Ukrainian: Олександр Сергійович Корнієнко; born 12 May 1984[2]) is a Ukrainian politician, First Deputy Chief of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a former Head of the Servant of the People political party. Co-chair of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council. One of the rulers of Decentralization Reform and Public Administration Reform in Ukraine. Supports the development of youth policy in Ukraine. Has more than 10 years’ experience in business coaching and development consulting.[3] Was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2019.[4]

Biography

EDUCATION Received his education at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (2001-2007), then studied at Ukrainian Center of Wiesbaden Academy for Psychotherapy (2008-2010).[5][6]

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES One of the founders and leaders of the Initiative Youth Union organization.[6] From 2010 to 2019 worked as a business coach and development consultant.[6]

In 2006 started his career as political counsellor during election campaigns with various forces and candidates.[6] During the 2015 Ukrainian local elections worked at the headquarters mayoral candidate of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Senkevych for the party Self Reliance.[6] Senkevych was elected Mayor.[7] Served as the national coordinator for Volodymyr Zelenskiy's 2019 presidential campaign and reprised this role for the party Servant of the People in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election.[8] Was elected to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's national parliament) in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election as number 7 on the candidate list of Servant of the People.[4][6] On 10 November 2019 Kornienko was elected as a head of this party.[1]

On 19 October 2021 was appointed as First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.[9]

A former member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning.

POLITICAL POSITIONS AND ACHIEVMENTS Takes an active position on public administration reform in Ukraine and decentralization of power. Supports the development of youth policy in Ukraine. During the current parliamentary term, he was involved in the implementation of key reforms (judicial, land, anti-corruption, economic, decentralization reforms, etc.), in the removal of artificial barriers – bureaucratic, procedural, political – to these reforms.
