Police Lines School and College Rangpur initiated its academic activity in 1986 under the patronage of the police super of Rangpur, Mominullah Patwari. The first batch of students passed in 1989 with one student topped the list in humanity group in the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary, Rajshahi. But the institution dates back to 1954 as a primary school. The present premises replaced an old tinshed building. Since then the institution has started to assume a full-fledged institutional character with efforts by police officials and local charitable persons who generously contributed to it. By 1987 a high school was founded and it got affiliation from the government in 1988. In 1989 a kindergarten section was introduced following a painstaking effort of Syed Serajul Islam, the police super. Another milestone was achieved when the institution expanded to higher secondary or college section in 1996 due to the efforts of M. A. Mabud, then the police super of Rangpur.
Hasanul Haider, another police super, founded the college building in 2006.[1] In July 2020, the foundation of another building was inaugurated by the DIG of Rangpur Range.[4]
