Richie Barshay is a jazz, Afro-Latin, and klezmer percussionist based in New York City. He is known to perform with The Klezmatics, Herbie Hancock, Lee Konitz, Esperanza Spalding, Chick Corea, and many others.

In 2004 he was named an American Musical Envoy by the U.S. State Department for outreach tours in Asia, South America, and Europe. [citation needed]

In 2005 Richie released Homework as the debut album of The Richie Barshay Project.
