Ruth Anneliese Welcome (April 24, 1918 – March 6, 2005)[1] was a German-American zither player and recording artist for Capitol Records. She emigrated from Germany at age 8, taking up residence in New York City.[2] She went on to study violin and piano performance at The Juilliard School, but it was her work as a zither player that brought her to the attention of Capitol Records. Welcome was signed to Capitol Records in 1957,[3] releasing Hi-Fi Zither 1958 and proceeded to record more than a dozen zither albums for Capitol over the next decade.

Welcome retired to Arizona in 1975, and passed away on March 6, 2005.
