"Sancta Maria" is a Latin-language soprano aria based on the Intermezzo from the opera Cavalleria Rusticana,[1] composed by Pietro Mascagni.[2] It uses some of the same lyrics as Ave Maria and has become a popular concert piece. It also has been recorded by several singers, like Sissel Kyrkjebø,[3] Charlotte Church, Katherine Jenkins and the tenors Andrea Bocelli[4] and Friar Alessandro.

Text

Ave Maria,
gratia plena,
Dominus tecum,
benedicta, benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus
fructus ventris tui, Jesus.

Sancta Maria,
Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.

Sancta Maria,
Sancta Maria,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with you,
blessed, blessed you are, amongst women,
and blessed is
the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Sancta Maria,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Sancta Maria,
Sancta Maria,
pray for us
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
