(Redirected from Seraskier)
Serasker or Seraskier is a title formerly used in the Ottoman Empire for a Vizier who commanded the army, and later for the National Minister of Defence.
A number of those closest to the Sultan were appointed Seraskier as either a sign of military ability or as a personal favour to those he deemed worthy of praise. The title was freely given and taken away.
