TalesRunner is a computer game created by the South Korean company Rhaon Entertainment and published by NOWCOM. It is a track running racing game where players compete by running, jumping, dashing and using items. The theme for game is Eastern and Western fairy tales. TalesRunner is very popular in Korea and it is gaining support in other countries such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Mainland China. Each country has its own server, and users logging in to foreign servers are redirected to their local server.

The Korean name for TalesRunner is "테일즈 런너" (Teiljeu Reonneo, a transliteration of "TalesRunner"). In Hong Kong, it is known as "跑Online" (lit. Run Online), in Taiwan, "HiYo衝天跑" (lit. Run to the sky), in Mainland China, "超级跑跑" (lit. Super Run), and in Thailand, "เทลส์รันเนอร์" (TalesRunner).

Storyline

King Henry is the king of a beautiful country. To make the people happy again, he started the "Fairyland Sightseeing Racing Competition" with a fairy tale theme. The winners of the competition will be awarded a stone that can fulfill any wish. Each contestant is called a "Tales Runner".

Dash Jumping Tutorial

Dash jumping (DJ) is a method or technique of racing that helps you to maintain top speed while consuming much smaller amounts of your Dash bar (Blue Bar) than regular dashing. Dash Jumping is not just dashing then double jumping, it is a timed process of holding/releasing dash and jump. Dash jumping does not exactly go any faster, but it save a lot of dash bar.

Is this the only way to be fast?

No, there are many methods of being "fast" or being first. Many people find the usual way of dashing to be easier with and stick with it. That does not mean that they will always loose to a dash jumper, because some times when people are just learning to dash jump they don't do it properly causing them to slow down. But on tracks such as Speed Training, a dash jumper will have the advantage of longer "bursts" of speed while circling the track. While on other tracks like hurdles, it is much harder to Dash Jump(but those who can do it, will be faster) so some might find it safer to just jump over the hurdles to avoid falling down. In the end dash jumping is just a method that will help you to be faster, but you should do what you have the most fun doing.

Controls

Default controls: Movement: Arrow keys Dash:[ Z ] Jump: [CTRL] Use Item: [Shift]

You can change the controls from the options menu ingame, different people prefer using different controls, here are the most common ones: Z,X ,C C,V,B C,V, Space

Your controls don't really matter, just choose whats most comfortable for you.

The processes of Dash Jumping

Dashing jumping properly requires practice and use so if you aren't able to get it immediately just keep trying and you will be able to do it soon.

1. Approach maximum speed by dashing or going over a booster.

1. After you have approached your desired speed, hold down the dash button and press jump

1. At the height of the first jump, simultaneously release the dash button and push jump to do a double jump at high speed.

1. Right before you reach the ground hold dash and press jump just like step 1 and repeat the process.

To Summarize: Dash(Hold), Jump(Reach maximum height), Release Dash & Jump.

Name: Daddy Octopus

Map Name: Fury of Daddy Octopus

Daddy Octopus defends his children fiercely and he's noticed that many Runners have been bothering them lately. He chases Runners down with a vicious electrical attack that stops his enemies in their tracks.

Name: Mommy Octopus

Map Name: Fury of Mommy Octopus

With Daddy Octopus out all the time Mommy Octopus has become worried. She races out looking for her husband while he chases down Tales Runners!

Name: Uncle Lizard

Map Name: Crisis of Uncle Lizard & Fury of Uncle Lizard

Uncle Lizard has never really gotten along with his fiance. He sends his minions to distract her but she's relentless in her pursuit. He chases Runners down as he attempts to dodge the advances of his enamored fiance.

Name: Aunt Lizard

Map Name: Crisis of Uncle Lizard

Aunt Lizard isn't married to Uncle Lizard yet but she's determined to make it happen. She knows that Uncle Lizard may have lost interest but she really does love him. She chases him to win his love back and help him stop Runners cold.

Name: Sailor Joe

Map Name: Sailor Joe

Sailor Joe doesn't know why he attacks Runners. But he knows it's fun! He snaps at them with his sharp teeth and pushes them out of the way with his nose. He'd stop going after Runners if someone could just give him a good reason.

Name: Nolbu and wife

Map Name: Hunbu & Nolbu 1,2 and Stepping on Nolbu

Nolbu is rich. He's a brother of Hunbu. But Hanbu and his wife and his 30 babies are poor. Nolbu is bad. In the stage he will have a rope trap to make obstacles.

Name: Dr.Hell

Map Name: Stepping on Dr.Hell

Dr.Hell is a quick runner but he isn't polite to King Henry 3rd.

Mission

There are 2 types of missions: Beginner missions and Dr. Hell entry missions.

Channels

Beginner Channel (Chick Channel in U.S. version)

All maps are the same as Easy Channel, but only chickens can go into this channel. The maximum star rating (difficulty) of maps in this channel is 3*. The names of these maps do not include "Diff," "Hell," or "Normal." In Thailand localization, this channel called "ห้องลูกเจี๊ยบ"

Easy Channel

The same as Beginner Channel, but accessible to all players.

Normal Channel

This channel has more maps than Easy Channel, and a star rating of up to 5*. Some maps are basically the same as in Easy Channel, but with a new star rating and a new name. For example, Easy Channel's "The Story of Finding Snowoman" becomes "Marching to Snowoman's" in Normal Channel.

Dr. Hell Channel

Players must finish all Dr. Hell entry missions before being allowed to enter the Dr. Hell channel. None of the maps in this channel exist in the Beginner, Easy, or Normal channels. All Dr. Hell's maps have the same background (purple sky). There are 4 maps in this channel:

1. Hell's Skiing (Difficulty: 10 stars)
2. Hell's Factory (Difficulty: 10 stars)
3. Final · Hell's Factory(Difficulty: 12 stars)
4. Hell's Puzzle (Difficulty: 15 stars)

Introduction to Goddess Park (Hong Kong)

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful lake in the park of a Goddess. A woodcutter dropped a bronze hammer into the lake. The Goddess wanted to test the woodcutter's honesty, so she offered him a bronze hammer, a silver hammer, and a golden hammer. The honest woodcutter took back his own bronze hammer. The Goddess wanted to reward the woodcutter, so she gave him both hammers. This tale is based on the Aesop's fable "The Honest Woodcutter," modified by François Rabelais as "The Golden Axe."

Time passed, and the story was forgotten. One day, Lina lost her voice. She walked through the lake and the Goddess appeared again.

Exploration park (Taiwan)

Exploration Park is designed for meeting friends and making new friends. Activities are geared for groups, such as hide-and-seek and traveling together. This park also has a secret, which adds excitement to the experience.

Goddess mission (Hong Kong version exclusive)

This mission starts with the same premise as the Goddess Park mission. However, Lina loses her voice and can no longer cure everywhere. The Goddess appears and makes her an offer: If Lina can realize the Goddess's wish, the Goddess will give her own voice to Lina. If the player finishes the mission, the player wins a crystal ball and the Goddess's voice, played by Stephy Tang.

Wedding and Couple systems

Players can marry each other. Hong Kong Version started a wedding system with which players can marry by paying 131400tr, before the official version was introduced. The official in-game wedding system was introduced in Korea shortly after and is now available in Hong Kong Version.Couple is released for the American version,couple includes racing with your partner for extra TR and EXP only if both have the couple ring equipped. The couple ring can be upgraded based on the time spent together for better bonuses.

Family System

Players can join families' or make one of their own.Families will race against each other like a guild or clan does in an MMORPG.
