I'm a little confused by this sentence "... All of these readings still stand as the record low for each location. Further, high temperatures of −10 °F in Spokane and 9 °F in Portland still stand as the coldest ever recorded."
How would "high" temperatures of -10 and 9 stand as the coldest ever recorded? Also, coldest ever recorded where? In those cities or in those states? Because the article clearly states earlier that the coldest temperature ever recorded in the lower 48 states is -66 °F. If anyone can clear this up it'd be great.
