Criticism[edit]

The previous "criticism" section of this page was completely unsourced. I don't particularly mind if someone puts it back, so long as it's *sourced* in some way.

However, I suspect it can't be--I did some digging and found nothing on ABET criticism. In addition, the IP of the person who originally added this material resolves to the University of Tulsa, and the material was added just about exactly when an ABET team was visiting the university. This leads me to believe this is a single person with an axe to grind, and not widespread "criticism" at all.75.46.140.40 02:19, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: There are a number of recent sources on criticism of ABET and of accreditation in general.

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2013/06/14/congressional-panel-hears-criticism-broken-accreditation-system

http://www.edcentral.org/improving-accreditation-i/

http://www.abet.org/senate-hearings/

Therefore the section on CRITICISM should be added back.

NOTE: 75.46.140.40 is apparently an ABET insider since he was aware of the upcoming ABET visit at the University of Tulsa. Pasimi (talk) 18:32, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: The first link is a general criticism of government-based accreditation systems from the Education Department. ABET is a non-government group and is not mentioned in that article. The second link goes to list of articles. The third link is dead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.183.76.79 (talk) 08:02, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accreditation Process[edit]

The previous version of "Accreditation Process" was lifted wholesale from here. I rewrote it, using additional information from here.75.46.140.40 02:19, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
