Especially during 1825-1827 when Ibrahim Pasha and his Egyptian troops applied a
“scorched earth” tactics in the Peloponnese, while a policy of subjugation was also being effected in mainland Greece by Mehmet Reshit Pasha, the later Grand Vizier.
