World Champion, 1939[edit]

I see that the UCI list the 1939 result as not raced due to the declaration of war, but also list Albert Richter's name in 3rd. However, both French bios list him as coming 4th that year. Was he posthumously declared 3rd, by the UCI or Gerardin? I presume its mentioned in the book if someone's got a copy.

According to the bio of Jef Scherens the final that year in Milan was between him and Arie Van Vliet. Both riders crashed and the final was to be re-raced the next day, but was never held because that day the Italian army mobilized. The other rider in Richter's 3rd/4th place race would have been Gerardin - the semi final lineup was front page news on the Miroir des Sports, 29 August 1939 (also has a good pic of the 4 riders) --Bazzargh (talk) 17:03, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic Games[edit]

Sorry to say that, but the arguments of Pullen are nonsense, because the Olympic Games were 1932, before the Nazis came to power. It is a fact, that the German cycling association did not send even one cyclist to the Games. All German cyclists to compete in Los Angeles were German-born Americans. And date of his death is definitely Januar 2nd 1940. --Nicola54 (talk) 18:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC) p.S. and he never rode one six day race, because he was a sprinter. This footnote (8) should be cancelled.[reply]
