GA review[edit]

This article seems to be pretty good, its by an large well-referenced, the images seem fine and it doesn't really seem unstable, the lead is pretty short but the article has so much more in-depth content in it that I can understand why the lead wouldn't really have much of that kind of content in it because it probably wouldn't look right to tie some of the content together, it seems pretty neutral which is a nice difference from a whole bunch of other comics-related articles, and it seems to not be violating anything from the MoS badly, especially not WP:WAF, which would be the most important here. I only have a few questions and comments, first of all, when the Fictional character biography section begins, is all of that first part referenced by the first citation? It just seems a bit unclear to me. This sentence- "Due to years of study in esoteric subjects, Lonni Machin had already achieved an almost encyclopedic knowledge of radical philosophy, and advanced science and technology, prior to becoming Anarky" doesn't appear referenced, and it appears it might be drawing an OR conclusion based on the existance of all his cool stuff, but it's a bit hard for me to tell. The Alternate Versions section seems a bit odd in that there are no inline citations, and although I presume the actual issues of comics mentioned in the sections are serving as the references, I think it would look better if they were converted into inline citations too. Be careful on the external links though, some of it looks a bit spammish, "a website devoted to the character" could mean a bunch of things. Homestarmy 14:29, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the time to review this article. I, and many other editors, have put a fair amount of effort into it, and I for one am glad to see that work is appreciated. I'll answer your questions here, and make use of them as notes for improvement where possible.
1) Your first question concerned the opening paragraphs of the Fictional character biography section. The first two paragraphs of information are taken from the same source, which were several pages of exposition detailing the character's history. I had been concerned that this would be unclear, but was reluctant to duplicate citation notes by adding another to the first paragraph. Given the current structure, and in-universe perspective (a holdover from the earliest incarnations of that section before I began really working on this.) In the future, I'll make an effort to take this and the skills section into an out-universe perspective, and hopefully I'll be able to interject more information on why certain decisions were made, providing an avenue for clearer citations. However, that will require a large rewrite and is a bit beyond my time at the moment.
2) The sentence you quote was originally written, to my recollection, in a different context, and was blurred by later edits. Seeing it now, it does seem to be without reference. I'll rewrite it, or just delete it.
3) The Alternate Versions section is also a written in a style that presumes the comic titles noted were sufficient sources, and I have also been bothered that those sections are written differently from the proceeding sections. I'll change the citations to be inline.
4) I'll also go back over the external links and provide better descriptions of them. The one you note was a holdover from before I began working on the article. It seemed to serve a function at the time, as it provided some information that was then not available within the article, such as an accurate history of the character, and an accurate list of the character's appearances.

Finally completed the list. Hopefully this has improved the article without making it needlessly long.--Cast (talk) 04:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
