Hi there, I have used that phrase a lot and always laugh and add that I don't think that pie making is all that easy! I've wondered about where it came from many-a-time. Maori "pai", as in "good"[edit]

Article: "There are some claims that the phrase originated in the 1920s from the Indigenous New Zealand expression 'pie at' or 'pie on' from the Maori term 'pai' which means 'good' ".
