Chord Progression = BADGE -- not!

[edit]

The chord progression for Badge is as follows Verse Ami D Emi7 C Ami Bmi Ami9

So if the song was named after the chord progression it would be called: ADECABA which reminds me of the title of a Genesis Song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.127.181.211 (talk) 15:01, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Relation to "Glass Onion"?

[edit]

Badge seems to sound a lot like The Beatles' Glass Onion from The White Album, both in music and in lyrics. Is there any proof to this?

I don't think so. Although the guitar riffs bear Harrison's signature style, the drumbeat is quite different from that of Glass Onion.

Other Bridge Songs

[edit]

Could there be a connection with Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters?

No. (Dsims209 12:38, 6 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Better than Here Comes the Sun?

[edit]

As Harrison co-wrote this and then based Here Comes the Sun from it, many fans prefer Here Comes the Sun, but for me Badge is better. (Dsims209 12:39, 6 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

"Where is my badge?"

[edit]

About 20 years ago, I was listening to a classic rock station, and they said that Badge is a reference to Eric Clapton's not getting an OBE while other rock stars had. There is even a live version of Badge (which I have heard) in which Clapton sings "Where is my badge? Where is my badge?" as the song ends.

Has anyone else heard the "urban legend" about the song's meaning? Has anyone else heard this live version of Badge? Poldy Bloom 22:18, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • On the video compilation The Cream of Eric Clapton there is a live version of Badge in which he sings this line. It's viewable on YouTube, also. I've no idea of the meaning, if any. The Sanity Inspector (talk) 01:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Live at Hammersmith he uses this line as well as Live at Albert hall.

Who played the bridge?

[edit]

Was it Harrison or Clapton who played the bridge on this song? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Sanity Inspector (talkcontribs) 01:51, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This line is not necessary:

'Despite his contribution to the song's lyrics, Ringo Starr is not credited as a co-author of "Badge." '

Starr only contributed one unrepeated line and nobody would expect a credit for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.193.219 (talk) 09:49, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
