I am gradually adding the fact that many Sussex villages are also civil parishes (CP), like Barcombe: there is a difference! In that case I have made it clear that the CP contains more than just Barcombe, which made the original a little unclear. I've included details of the old railway lines - again since they are more complicated than was originally suggested - and the Bluebell Line certainly isn't defunct!!! I also feel that to suggest readers might muddle up between Bal and Bar makes it more possible that they will, for no good reason as far as I can see, so I've toned that down. Finally: Domesday not Doomsday... Peter Shearan 10:12, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stff[edit]

yes there is only one villa and the bluebell line isn't run by national rail: so it's defunct! anyway I LIVE IN BARCOMBE so i should know more

Apology[edit]

Sorry I apologise for my rash attitude in 'Stff' I wasn't experienced in wikipedia then. If you require information about the railway of Barcombe and the surrounding area - I can be of great help. And the Bluebell Railway isn't operated by Network Rail it is a private heritage railway, so it is in effect a closed line as you can't buy a ticket from say Lewes to Sheffield Park. Roman Villas[edit]

THREE Roman villas? I only know of one. Does anybody have evidence for others?--QuestingVole 11:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

Guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements state that ideally the civil parish should be the catch-all article, avoiding single line articles on every village and landmark within the parish.

Therefore, I suggest that villages within the parish with a one or two sentence article, ie Barcombe Cross to be merged and redirected to this parish article. ++ MortimerCat (talk) 16:20, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
