Talk:Best interests

This page is incomplete - it talks about best interests as relating to children, but the concept is also relevant as regards treatment of other people who have reduced competence, such as those with cognitive disorders. Will attempt to do something! Tricky (talk) 23:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is in urgent need of comprehensive editing: it has an odd and unexplained focus upon (a simplistic interpretation of) English law despite the relevance of the legal concept of "best interest" to relevant US laws.

Also, in terms of assumptions about the global reach of the "best interest" doctrine no mention at all is made of The Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction where, even in English law (and relevant US laws), the "best interest" doctrine clearly does not apply.

No discussion. The article will be radically and appropriately edited in due course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.29.81 (talk) 21:08, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
