Brumbies or ACT Brumbies?

[edit]

Should the article really be entitled the ACT Brumbies? That is thier historical name but it is presently incorrect. The article should be re-titled the Brumbies or the CA Brumbies. Ronan.evans 10:42, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever it is titled, if you move it, can you please look at "What links here" and fix all the redirects? Almost all links are currently to the redirect pages ACT Brumbies or CA Brumbies, if they are double redirects, the links don't work. Thanks! —Stormie 12:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

The Brumbies have traditionally formed the backbone of the Wallabies. ? ? Cvene64 13:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the last 10 years yes! Ronan.evans 13:44, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article title

[edit]

Brumbies are a franchise, not a club. The article title should be changed. Should it be changed to Brumbies (Super rugby franchise) like the New Zealand Super 14 teams or Brumbies (rugby union) like Welsh side Ospreys?

Eastpaw 9.30, 10 July 2006 (UTC+8)

How about Brumbies Rugby, thats what their official website says under history. Cvene64 14:13, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Ronan.evans 13:45, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While I like the present Brumbies Rugby name what do you all think about calling the article "The Brumbies?" Ronan.evans 14:49, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer Brumbies Rugby to be honest. Its the name on the official website, whereas The Brumbies is probably a little ambiguous. Cheers. Cvene64 16:47, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ronan, maybe we should think about taking Brumbies, it currently redirects to Brumby, and there are no other meanings except for the team. I'd say it would be equal traffic to Brumbies, in terms of people looking for Brumby or Brumbies Rugby, and since there are only two meanings, we could use Brumbies, and have a disambiguation link to Brumby at the top. Cvene64 03:07, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is probably a good idea. No-one refers to the team as "Brumbies Rugby", they either inncorrectly call them the old "ACT Brumbies" or "Brumbies." 58.178.75.94 14:23, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page movements

[edit]

Argh. A cut'n'paste move was done on this page about a week ago, from Brumbies (rugby club) to Brumbies (rugby franchise) if I remember correctly. You must NOT "rename" a page by starting a new page, copying the content in there, and then making the old page into a redirect. This breaks the page history in half! I have fixed it all up now, so Brumbies Rugby contains the full history of the article's editing. I have also fixed up the latest batch of double redirects caused by moving Brumbies (rugby franchise) to Brumbies Rugby.

If you don't know exactly what you're doing, please don't move pages around. Gather consensus for the change of name, and then ask me or another admin to do it. —Stormie 09:22, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Team Jersey

[edit]

Could someone update the Home and Away jerseys from just plain black. If possible it might be a good idea to inlcude the tradition jersey too. Ronan.evans 08:35, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I gave it a shot. They look okay for the time being I guess. The home version has a white line at the bottom of the jersey that I cant get rid of though. Cvene64 06:44, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Any ideas on how we could go about including the traditional jersey in this mix. It is still used for games agaisnt the Waratahs and the Reds- as well as during the end of season competition. Many Brumbies fans still regard this jersey as the "real" jersey as well.toenail 05:57, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Theme Song

[edit]

As well as the "Proud to be a Brumby" song there is another song that is played as the team runs on the the field for home games. Any idea what it is? ronan.evans 08:01, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The song played for the 2008 season when the Brumbies run out is Straight Lines by Silverhchair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.129.35.31 (talk) 03:01, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Silverchair indeed for 2008, but in 2007 when you asked this question ronan, in case it's driving you crazy, the runout song was Grinspoon's cover of Don't Change by INXS. Also in 2006, if memory serves. Deoxyribonucleic acid trip (talk) 08:06, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PS was reminded at the ground last night that I never mentioned this year's runout song, Let It Rock by Kevin Rudolf (Dg Seattle Rapless Edit, according to Shazam (service): amazing app, worked at the ground through all the crowd noise and PA!). Deoxyribonucleic acid trip (talk) 00:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. Have to say I wish they still ran out to "Proud the be a BRUMBY"58.178.30.40 (talk) 13:49, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CA Technologies

[edit]

Because of reverts I'm posting this, it is CA Technologies Brumbies not CA Brumbies for the sponsored name, this can be seen on all the (recent) articles and on the sidebar on the website as well as pages with the new header ([1] [2]), reflecting the name change of the company this year. --sss333 (talk) 08:13, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reversal over form

[edit]

Isn't there a better way of expressing: "The 2012 season saw a reversal over form, with the side narrowly missing on a playoff spot"? wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 11:36, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There has to be, really. How about simply "an improvement in form"? TheMightyPeanut (talk) 11:45, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Now it reads: "... narrowly missing the final-six and a place in the quarter finals."
Please don't hesitate to fix it further. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 12:17, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Captains, Notable Players, 100 Club, Team Records - Have separate subpage/s?

[edit]

Hi fellow wikipedians,

The information in the Captains, Notable Players, 100 Club, Team Records sections are useful, but may be worthy of a subpage?

Will action in October 2021 if people agree. Roffschoice (talk) 10:18, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Roffschoice, Would support this given how lengthly these historic results/players section is. Again similar to Super Rugby records I'm not sure how necessary some of the information is (information on game day captains could be significantly shorter for example, all time XV and 30 for 30 is WP:FANCRUFT) but a lot of the other records, 100 appearances club are fine. Just make sure that it doesn't breach WP:NOTSTATS. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 10:05, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
