On 2 December 2021, it was proposed that this article be moved from Bueng Kan Province to Bueng Kan province. The result of the discussion was moved.

Bueng Kan (Thai: บึงกาฬ) is the 76th province (Changwat) of Thailand[edit]

Thailand's Executive Branch is divided into three types: (1) Central administration, consisting of Ministries, Sub-Ministries and Departments; (2) Provincial administration, composing of Changwats and Amphoes; and (3) Local administration, comprising of Tambon administrative organisations, municipalities, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (or usually called Bangkok), Phatthaya City for instance.

Now there are sixty six Changwats, the sixty sixth is Bueng Kan. So many people include Bangkok into Changwats, that's why they consider Bueng Kan is the sixty seventh Changwat. However, as I have stated, Bangkok is part of the local administration. Bangkok is neither a Changwat nor the provincial administration. Bangkok has once been a Changwat (provincial administration), but no any longer.

Minor spelling fix - you meant seventy six, not sixy six. And as far as I understand it, Bangkok was a Changwat only shortly and only by function but not by name - it was created by the merge of the Changwat Phra Nakhon and Thonburi in 1971 and then had the name Nakhon Luang Krung Thep Thon Buri (นครหลวงกรุงเทพธนบุรี), no "Changwat" in the name [1]. In 1972 the special administrative area was then created[2]. Correct me please if I am wrong, I can only read those laws partially... andy (talk) 10:56, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
