Caffeine pills in Sweden[edit]

I edited the entry for Sweden, which was ridicilous. There's a lot of different alternatives besides the one that Apoteket sells. I personally use the one from TopFormula which is 502 25 mg tablets for 109 SEK. The small dose for each tablet makes them a lot easier to take than Koffein Recip from Apoteket. One dose from Apoteket is 100 mg so if I only need 175 mg I'd have to take 200 mg but with the ones I have I can take the 175 mg and thus prevent my tolerance from building up too quickly. I don't work for Topformula, I'm just saying that there are a lot better alternatives than the ones Apoteket sell. Click here to see the alternatives: http://www.prisjakt.nu/kategori.php?l=s32638370&o=produkt_pris_inkmoms#rparams=l=s32638378 (I've specified it to pills and tablets only but you can get them in powder and liquid form as well) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.216.44.97 (talk) 00:59, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Health issues?[edit]

Why is there no mention of the dangers associated with both prolonged use and overdose of caffeine tablets?

The article seems both one-sided and almost misleading, as it is now.

I'm not a Wiki editor but I thought at least, that articles which deal with medicinal subjects would be unbiased and reviewed by a Pharmacology Editor.

Prolonged use and overdose are two completely different things, and it's not fair to even think of them in the same light. It is not evident to me that prolonged use in safe doses results in any problems whatsoever. Dangers of overdose exist, as they do for every drug out there. Caffeine is safe in moderate amounts. If you're implying that it is not, please provide evidence. --IO Device (talk) 05:20, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My point was not that they are necessarily dangerous but other similar articles on Wiki state the possible contraindications, effects of prolonged use and risks of over-dosage.

This article doesn't mention anything of the sort, but yet it contains info on a number of possible benefits.

For example Ephedrine is a major contra-indicator for Caffeine and taking both at once is basically like using an ECA Stack, others include 4-Quinolone antibiotics [1]

Thanks. The points that you mentioned seem like they all belong in or around Caffeine#Pharmacology. This article could then contain a very short summary of those points. Please feel free to update it with this if you like. To my knowledge, such articles are not reviewed by a pharmacology editor, but perhaps you'll feel a bit better after looking at the main article on caffeine. --IO Device (talk) 19:12, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Skin Caner[edit]

The skin cancer information is interesting, but does it really belong in this article? It should be in the main caffeine article if it isn't already, but I see no reason to include it in this article since it seems to pertain to caffeine generally and not only to caffeine tablets. --DarthTaper (talk) 18:14, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've now removed the section. --IO Device (talk) 18:30, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

The two main sources here are pretty bad. One is a shady looking body building website and the other is a blatent advertising page for a non-caffeinated coffee substitute. Come to think of it i'm actually going to rm the advertising one.--Terrx (talk) tehcawksbig 05:37, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
