Problems with "Commissioning" section[edit]

So I'm cleaning up the article to make it more consistent with Camp Merriam, California and I notice what appear to be some factual problems in the section "Commissioning." First of all, General Otis (who was actually a Major General) succeeded Merritt. Merritt actually went to the Philippines with the Eighth and served a commanding role there for a short time. -- but this is a minor problem.

The other problem is, according to my research, the order cited (General Order 7 of the U.S. Expeditionary Forces) is incorrect. That order, from what I can tell, was given in 1972 by the Commander in Chief of the Philippine Army (not the U.S. Army), and was issued by President FERDINAND E. MARCOS of the Republic of the Philippines and Commander in Chief of the Philippine Army. This is a rather embarrassing error and needs to be corrected ASAP.

In the meantime, I am flagging the section as disputed.

Any help with this would be welcomed. If nobody volunteers in a reasonable time and the issue still hasn't been resolved (if indeed there is one), I will delete the questionable material. Thank you, --John (Johnnie Bob (talk) 22:08, 23 September 2020 (UTC))[reply]
