I dropped J.M.W. Turner from the list of painters represented at Carlton House, I hope correctly. Turner's Battle of Trafalgar, his first and only Royal commission (of 1823), hung briefly at St. James's in 1824 before it was banished to Greenwich, as it was criticised by all the old admirals, for misrepresenting the rigging, etc etc. Since Carlton House was demolished in 1825, I'm sure that no Turner ever hung in Carlton House.
