Untitled[edit]

people of my era - born in 1949 and prior believe that Charlton Kings was called Yarley, and if born in it you are a Yarlite. before part of it was moved into Cheltenham it was the largest Village in England.

Local legend has it that one of the King Charles escaped from the Roundheads though a secret passage from St Mary's Church to a house in Spring Bottom still called King's House where the Roundheads were waiting and captured him.

Another legend say that it used to be the King's Hunting Lodge at Charlton and that is how it became called Charlton Kings. The legend continues that when communication came the King told them to build at the Hamlet on the River Chelt (now Cheltenham) and come to him on Horseback and if he did not like the message they could say they never found him.

Who knows if these are true? But certainly these rumour or legends exist.

Chuck Norris and Charlton Kings[edit]

I have raised a citation need against the sentence stating he is believed to have lived in Charlton and held Sunday training sessions here, as I find no reference to living in England in his Wikipedia article. I have also deleted the listing of St Chuckus Norris Church of Kung-Fu from the list of local churches as it appears to have been a joking addition on top of what is described as four churches listedCloptonson (talk) 20:52, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
