Clifton and Clifton East?[edit]

Shouldn't this be split into Clifton and Clifton East? A lot of what is claimed for Clifton actually falls into Clifton East - see http://www.bristol.gov.uk/ccm/content/Council-Democracy/Statistics-Census-Information/ward-finder.en?XSL=warddetail&WardId=34 tomburnell 14:24, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No-one in the actual real world ever actually refers to Clifton East, though, surely? 'East' seems just to be a political dividing line for the purpose of holding elections. The only Cliftons I hear and talk about are Clifton in the generic (starting somewhere around the fountains in the centre) and Clifton Village in the particular. 'Clifton East' isn't a useful classification, I don't think. Splash - tk 14:59, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, those designations are for local administration purposes only, and they bear no real relation to every day use of the term "Clifton", nor are they an attempt to redefine the area's boundaries. Indeed, the council merely named them after Clifton for convenience -- they could have named them "Bristol City Council Ward Number 11" and "Bristol City Council Ward Number 12". By all means, start a "Politics and administration" section to describe the fact that the area contains two City Council Wards, and the dividing line between them, but there's no need to split the article. We don't just deal with formal divisions, we also have to deal with the everyday informal divisions -- hence why we mention Filton on the Bristol article, even though it's not in the official boundaries, and why we have articles about informal areas like West Country and home counties, which have no formal definitions. "Just Clifton" Removed site "Just Clifton", site appers to be under construction. Will be linking back to this site upon completion, as this site appears to have potential.(Questioning whether this site should be included as a community website, as it seems to be only a Wordpress blog?(Thoughts wanted please).

Map of Clifton circa 1990 See no real point linking to this map, as co-ordinates are provided at the top of the article page for this purpose. The map is also out of date by 19 years and map graphics are of poor quality.

Recently removed BWLS Bristol orchestras link This site appeared to be in the making and like "Just Clifton", had potential for warranting site linkage. However, this site does not appear to be hosted 24/7, and therefore failing to be a practical resource. Although, if this technical issue can be ammended, I see no reason why not to link there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bennyrand (talkcontribs) 10:09, 15 June 2009 (UTC) Removed the BWLS Site as link was not working. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Readmeandthis (talkcontribs) 09:18, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger of Amberley House School[edit]

This merger mandated by the recent AfD has now been completed. Jezhotwells (talk) 13:51, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"both one" in first sentence[edit]

Can somebody fix this, please?

"Clifton is a suburb of the City of Bristol in England, and the name of both one of the city's thirty-five council wards."

Maybe "Clifton is both a suburb of the City of Bristol in England and one of the city's thirty-five council wards."? —JerryFriedman (Talk) 17:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
