"Southfield Furnace", painting by Raphael Hoyle[edit]

A mailing list I belong to received this query:

"I am seeking information on a painting of Southfield Furnace that was reproduced James Maxwell Ransom's, _Vanishing Ironworks of the Ramapos_, in 1966 (Rutgers University Press). It is simply known as "Southfield Ironworks" by Raphael Hoyle. I have been unable to figure out what happened to that painting, although I know that Ransom was past president of the Bergen Co. Historical Society in NJ, but they did note [sic - not] get his papers or the painting. Any leads would be appreciated. Ultimately, I am hoping to find the painting to get permission to reproduce it in an article on Peter Townsend, the ironmaster who owned Southfield, for the New York State Museum Record."

Clove Furnace vs. Southfield Furnace.[edit]

The re-direct from Southfield Furnace NRHP 73001243 to Clove Furnace is incorrect. They are two different furnaces. Southfield is near Tuxedo Park in Southfields; Clove Furnace is in Arden NY. ^[1] 93flash42 (talk) 16:04, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
