Untitled[edit]

Main article states that ID card needed to exit ship. Question arises, what if that card is unavailable at point of final debarkation? Surely the guest does not then become a permanent resident! If you lose it, you ask the ship staff for a new one and they give it to you. It has happened to me multiple times before. But I never thought it needed to be in the article.Sebwite (talk) 03:03, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on the ship. AIDA (all ships older than AIDAstella) for example uses bar code for embarcation/disembarcation scans and magnetic stripe for POS/cabin door. With AIDAstella (2013) they introduced RFID. I think it is quite expensive to change thousands (think about the number of cabins) of door locks + POS readers to a different system so it is not done unless a ship is completely remodeled or the technology that was used is no longer available.145.253.240.222 (talk) 12:17, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
