Cuccìa[edit]

Someone made a big mistake here with the accent.

The name is cuccìa, not cuccià. I'm not sure how to change the title, but I'm going to give it a try.--Salvuzzo (talk) 17:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The origin of 'cuccìa' from arabic 'kiskiya' is doubtful, in his dictionary M.Vasmer attributed ussian "кутья" to the greek 'κουκκιά', from ancient greek 'κόκκος' (Max Vasmer, Etymological dictionary of the Russian language). Sicily had considerable greek population in ancient times. Also the articles about cuccia, kutia/кутья, koliva are about the same historical cooking recipe.
