Name Pronunciation[edit]

Generally, people from the east coast have pronounced Vernon's name "Day" while people on the west coast pronounce his name "Die." Vernon himself has pronounced it both ways at different times.

Walter Scott[edit]

The paragraph on Walter Scott seems like it should be removed. Though it took place in a locale frequented by Dai Vernon, part of the legend is that Vernon was not present; perhaps it belongs in an independent article for Scott, if such a thing is justified? The Prestige (film) reference[edit]

In The Prestige, one of the magicians takes on the stage name of The Professor. Should this be included in Trivia? Deflagro 02:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe such titles, e.g. "Doctor" also, were not that uncommon for magicians, particularly during that time period. So unless there is any evidence that they really mean Dai Vernon, I think it should be left out. It may be that a consultant like Ricky Jay suggested this while thinking of Vernon, but he could also have been using a generic title as I mentioned. --Horoball 15:00, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dai Vernon's Gravesite?[edit]

Vernon was cremated and his ashes stood in a number of boxes in the vernon corner at the magic castle for some time. I believe there is only one box left there now. I have changed this article to reflect that the biographer Karl Johnson says that the ashes are at the Magic Castle. There is plenty of rumor on the Internet about this. I can also find many similar non reliable citations saying that the ashes were from the cigar Vernon smoked. So it isn't clear if the ashes were at the Castle, are still at the castle or where briefly there for a showing or what. I think it is safest to say that according to this writer Johnson HE says this is true. A much better citation is needed to say otherwise. Sgerbic (talk) 05:21, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. James William Elliott[edit]

The third paragraph refers to Dr. James William Elliott, and links to another person of the same name (an English nursery rhyme collector). The correct link should be to the American card trick master, but there is not yet a Wiki page for him. I am a novice contributor and don't know how to proceed. Rewrite and Update needed[edit]

I'm working on the Magic Castle page currently and I can see that this page is in dire need of an update as well. Many missing citations and I would assume broken links. It seems that his story is so simply told and more details need to be fleshed out in order to bring it up to current standards.
