Date of Death[edit]

I'm not sure that the date of death appearing on this page is 100% correct. The introductory text of "The History of the Sevarambians", edited by John Laursen and Cyrus Masroori references a letter written by Vairasse that has been dated to 1680, which can be seen here:

Furthermore, "The Extraordinary Voyage in French Literature Before 1700, Volume 1" by Geoffroy Atkinson suggests that Vairasse was still alive when the Edict of Nantes was formally repealed, which didn't happen until 1685:

Apologies for the long links; I don't think I've ever used a talk page on Wikipedia before. At any rate, I haven't been able to nail down an exact year of death so far, but research suggests that it was sometime after 1672. If anyone can provide a more accurate date of death, that would be appreciated. 74.194.152.231 (talk) 22:14, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted! I agree. 1696 is a more common date of death in library catalogues. Biographical details given by John Laursen & Cyrus Masroori in the introduction to their 2006 edition of History of the Sevarambians should be integrated into this article. Laursen & Masroori say (p. ix) that in 1696 DV presented an irrigation proposal to the Estates of Languedoc. There should also be a redirect from Denis Vairas and other name variants to this page.62.254.146.71 (talk) 13:46, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
