New companies[edit]

The modern company E.Dent & Co Ltd Co No 05959680 formed in England began in 2006 [1] and does not seem to have a direct historic connection to old firm which made Big Ben. There is another company formed in 1886 which also claims to be Dents, and yet another new company in Switzerland which claims to be Dents. Without historical evidence of the same business continuing from the days of Big Ben to today, surely it is better to draw a line under the historic works of the original Dents. Whatever these new companies do today should not be interleaved with the original historic Dent for the purposes of accurate reference to the historic Dent in Wikipedia.‎ Turretclocks (talk) 16:00, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. If any of these new companies are to be mentioned at all (notability considerations) the article should make it transparently clear what their exact relationship is. I am particularly peturbed by the history presented on the Swiss companies website which goes to great lengths to obfuscate this and try to pretend that they are still the original Dent's. Dent clock, St Pancras[edit]

I came to this article expecting to read about the Dent clock at St Pancras station. If the company that produced this clock is not the same company (@SpinningSpark: thanks for the exchange above), it would be useful if the article could clarify the relationship (if any) between them. The new company appears to claim the lineage, with the triangular trademark and the date of 1814, though like you I doubt that this can be taken at face value.
