History section[edit]

History section is, well, for history. I do not know what the classification section is for, If someone is unhappy with the content of the history section, feel free to write more. Probably libraries in Ukraine should contain sufficient information on history of Dudchany. Ymblanter (talk) 16:08, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objections to making a history section in the article, in fact I would love it if there was enough information to make one, but as of now the majority of the history in the article comes from the Russian invasion, so just naming the section "2022 Russian Invasion" (at this time) more accurately represents the information in that section.
As per your suggestion to find more history of the village by referencing books in Ukrainian libraries, I sadly I do not have access. I tried searching for any kind of further information on JSTOR and Newspaper.com by trying in "Dudchany" in both english and ukrainian, and there were no results pre-Ukrainian recapture in the Russian invasion. I think the best hope for finding more information on the history of the village will come from bringing over information from the Ukrainian translation of the article, which I plan to do soon. Sadly, most of this information is uncited, and I'm unsure whether to bring it over with a "citation needed" tag, or not bring it over at all. @Ymblanter, What do you think? (While you are here too, I also wanted to say thank you again for fixing the typos and formatting of my recent edits, I appreciate it greatly 🙂) Johnson524 (Talk!) 16:46, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would advise not to translate unsourced info from Ukrainian. Their notability standards fell well below ours, and chances to find POV are very high. Concerning info, I should have some (actually, Russian sources for this particular location are probably better than Ukrainian). But, in principle, I think we should have a history section, and the invasion section must be a subsection, even though the village is mostly known because of the invasion.  Done Translated and added the (little) cited information in the Ukrainian translation of the article, which mainly consisted of the Demographics section. The only thing I am concerned about is that I'm unsure how to make the demographic citations, even though they are there in the Ukrainian article. The template used there doesn't work in English as far as I'm aware, and I'm unsure where else I can find the proper citation for this. Besides that, I think the article looks the best it can be right now- at least to my ability 🙂 Johnson524 (Talk!) 08:21, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
