Merger Proposal

[edit]

I proposed for the List of minor Uplift universe characters to be merged onto this page because the only character on it is a major character and member of EarthClan TomDS 22:13, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I vote no. If anything, the other article should be substantially expanded. Ayengar 08:00, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I vote yes - but Earthclan should become a redirect to List of minor Uplift universe characters, and then it should be expanded. BTW, here is a (almost canonical) list of Streaker's Crew. If anyone wants to wikify it, feel free to do it. Albmont (talk) 22:32, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. EarthClan does not describe individuals, it describes species. I think EarthClan has scope for describing the characteristics of each species (e.g. Neo-Dolphins have to struggle against tendencies to slip into atavistic behaviours such as the Whale Dream and rescue fever, which are sometimes important in the plots; but they are superb pilots because they are pre-adapted to 3-D maneuvers, and important in planetary warfare because most Galactics are unaware fo the strategic potential of the sea) and their political significance (e.g. gorillas become clients of the Thennanin, which converts Thennanin from enemies to friends of EarthClan). In fact I'll add that material right now. Philcha (talk) 17:39, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the merge templates due to a lack of consensus --Lox (t,c) 18:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Yes, but not a redirect to List of minor Uplift universe characters - without the conversion of the Thennanin from enemies to friends of EarthClan, murderous fanatics like the Tandu and Brother would dogpile. --Philcha (talk) 15:38, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reference Request?

[edit]

Can anyone come up with any reason why this article would have a reference request? It's an article about a fictional universe, and it cites the books from the author that detail it. There are no 'more appropriate' sources! I've gone ahead and removed the request. 71.29.75.132 (talk) 22:18, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meta: Dolphins *do* dream of whales!
