Genus may not be monotypic

[edit]

The Eikenella genus appears to contain a new species Eikenella exigua sp. nov. according to these references.[1][2] Could a separate genus article be created and the redirect to this article be removed? 108.18.207.147 (talk) 16:31, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

statement about clinical evidence of fluoroquinolones out of date

[edit]

“It is susceptible to fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin) in vitro, but no clinical evidence is available to advocate their use in these infections.”

not sure when the line was put in but saw in the edit history that it may have been uncited for a number of years. Cited study is over twenty years old and I’ve seen at least one study (small sample but still: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8841131/) where they were used successfully. The sentence in the article I’m referring to seems to be misinformed at this point and could easily make people looking for information on their treatment nervous for no reason.
