THE FENDER MUSIC MASTER WAS NOT A 22 1/2 INCH SCALE BUT RATHER A 24 INCH SCALE LIKE THE MUSTANG, DUO-SONIC ETC. THIS SHOULD BE CORRECTED IN YOUR INFOPEDIA

Actually it was both as was the duo-sonic and mustang. Check the Bacon's The Fender Book or any miriad of websites to verify, or you can check out the 65 Musicmaster hanging in my den. The easiest way to tell at a glance is by the number of frets: 22 on the 24 inch scale, 21 on the 22.5 inch.

Dates and priority[edit]

Production of the Musicmaster started two months before that of the Duosonic, and shipping began immediately. The Musicmaster bodies were all routed for two pickups, probably for several reasons, and the two were planned together and appeared together in Fender sales literature. But the Musicmaster came first, if either can be said to. Andrewa 20:31, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The original author of the Duo-sonic article got it right, but this edit by an anon reversed the priority there. Obviously a Fender enthusiast by their edits, they introduced the same priority error here, but also corrected an error to the Fender Bronco article (they're right, it's not a 'stang trem) and generally added good stuff. Swinger[edit]

The Swinger/Arrow/Musiclander was not produced using Musicmaster bodies. It used a bass body (the Fender Bass V is normally quoted). The body has a rout for a split bass pickup. The cutaway in the end would have removed the through-body holes for the strings if the Bass V was like the Mustang Bass. It may have used up the unpopular Musicmaster short-scale neck, with the scroll cut off to make it pointy (hence the "Arrow" moniker? under which mine was sold to me). ..and it definitely looks like it used the Musicmaster bridge (cheap and nasty), scratchplate and electrics including the control plate. Q.: does the Musicmaster have a brass shielding plate under the pickup, as the Swinger does? NickS 16:21, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
